Minecraft Building Guide

Minecraft Building Guide
By:Drake Craft
Published on 2016-09-20 by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform

Never Build an Ugly House Again by Using Blueprints! Want easy to follow, image based blueprints to use when building your Minecraft houses and structures? Remember the first day in Minecraft? You are rushing to find materials, find coal, and build a shelter before you get attacked by creepers and skellies. Typically you build a house so quickly that it ends up being a hole in the dirt... or a 5x5 cube made of dirt! Either way, it ends up looking TERRIBLE. You continue to slowly gather materials, and block by block build your house to look better and better. But unfortunately, it never looks that awesome. It doesn't turn into something that you're proud of and want to see everyday because you didn't start with a plan or design in mind. This is at least what happened to me in my Minecraft worlds! If I didn't have a well thought out plan beforehand, my house would never turn out as well as I wanted. That's why I have created a series of blueprints that tells you exactly how to build the house you want. Layer by layer, we clearly show where to place each block, and how many of each block you need. Here's how it works... We give you a variety of different houses to choose from all with their own unique styles and complexities. Take a moment to search through the different options (we provide completed pictures for you to choose from). You jump to the picture of the house you like the best and want to build. Once you pick your house, we will tell you what materials you need and how many blocks of each material you need to collect. From there, start collecting materials or start building in creative. Or you can start building with what you have and collect materials along the way! From there, the construction of the house is crazy simple. We start with layer 1. Each layer of the house is shown to you with a bird's eye view so you can clearly see which block goes where. Each photo is complemented with a descriptive text version of what you need to do in that layer. Then, step by step, layer by layer, we will build the house to the top! These blueprints were designed to be as clear and easy to follow as possible. Because building a well designed house is hard work. Finding all of the materials along with knowing what to use at which time can get confusing. That's why you should start with a plan, design, and goal in mind! This is especially relevant if you are playing multiplayer. Don't be that player that builds the ugly house on the block. Build something amazing that other players are jealous of and compliment you for. The days of ugly houses are OVER! It's time to get started and get excited about your new Minecraft home. Just listen to what our other Minecraft readers have to say... |This ebook is amazing. The images display what you need to construct so clearly. Building the house was so simple and it looks better than everyone else's on our server.| -- Tim G. -- |Drake, PLEASE MAKE MORE BLUEPRINTS! I always built awful houses and could never be happy with them or figure out how to improve them. Now I'm really happy with the village I built: )| -- John S. -- |Keep it up and keep them coming Drake Craft. Another great series of houses to build. I'm super excited!| -- Whitney M. -- Happy Crafting!

Mail-Order Homes

Mail-Order Homes
By:Rebecca L. Hunter
Published on 2012-07-20 by Bloomsbury Publishing

The rapid westward expansion of the United States in the early twentieth century set the stage for a new industry: mail-order homes. Sold by such companies as Sears, Roebuck & Co., Aladdin, and Montgomery Ward, these kit homes were shipped by train to their purchasers in boxcars containing everything required for their construction, whether a vacation cottage, modest bungalow, or two-and-a-half story home. Rebecca Hunter brings to life the history of these charming homes, tens of thousands of which were sold throughout the United States in the early 1900s, and many of which still exist. Fully illustrated and including numerous images from period catalogs, this book describes the customers who bought and built mail-order houses, the various styles and designs, and the boom and bust of the industry.

Henry Cowell

Henry Cowell
By:Joel Sachs
Published on 2012-07-09 by Oxford University Press

Joel Sachs offers the first complete biography of one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century American music. Henry Cowell, a major musical innovator of the first half of the century, left a rich body of compositions spanning a wide range of styles. But as Sachs shows, Cowell's legacy extends far beyond his music. He worked tirelessly to create organizations such as the highly influential New Music Quarterly, New Music Recordings, and the Pan-American Association of Composers, through which great talents like Ruth Crawford Seeger and Charles Ives first became known in the US and abroad. As one of the first Western advocates for World Music, he used lectures, articles, and recordings to bring other musical cultures to myriad listeners and students including John Cage and Lou Harrison, who attributed their life work to Cowell's influence. Finally, Sachs describes the tragedy of Cowell's life, being sentenced to fifteen years in San Quentin -- of which he served four -- after pleading guilty to a morals charge that even the prosecutor felt was trivial. Providing a wealth of insight into Cowell's ideas and philosophy, Joel Sachs lays out a much-needed perspective on one of the giants of twentieth-century American music.

With essays from such varied figures as Oprah, Vice President Joe Biden, Chelsea Handler, and Maya Angelou—as well as poignant words from a Newtown father and a military widow—Note to Self is a moving reflection on the joys and challenges of growing up and a perfect gift for any occasion.

The Meaning of Home

The Meaning of Home
By:Edwin Heathcote
Published on 2014-01-13 by Frances Lincoln

We are so familiar with the features of our homes – the rooms, fixtures and myriad little decorative details – that we have forgotten how to look at them. We might explore a church, read a book or watch a film, and attempt to decode its symbols and references, but we rarely look at our homes with the same critical eye. Yet from the most ordinary apartment to the most extravagant mansion, every home is a deep well of meaning. From windows to wardrobes, fireplaces to door knockers, Edwin Heathcote attempts to fathom the elements of our everyday domestic lives. He explores how, over time, ancient ritual elements transmute into practical features, and how some of these, charged with latent symbolic meaning, have persisted in modern dwellings despite having lost their original uses. Home will never quite look the same again.

The Not So Big Life

The Not So Big Life
By:Sarah Susanka
Published on 2007-05-01 by Random House

Have you ever found yourself asking, “Is this all there is to life?” Or wondering if this bigger life you have created is actually a better life? And do you wonder how it all got so out of control? In her groundbreaking bestseller The Not So Big House, architect Sarah Susanka showed us a new way to inhabit our houses by creating homes that were better–not bigger. Now, in The Not So Big Life, Susanka takes her revolutionary philosophy to another dimension by showing us a new way to inhabit our lives. Most of us have lives that are as cluttered with unwanted obligations as our attics are cluttered with things. The bigger-is-better idea that triggered the explosion of McMansions has spilled over to give us McLives. For many of us, our ability to find the time to do what we want to do has come to a grinding halt. Now we barely have time to take a breath before making the next call on our cell phone, while at the same time messaging someone else on our Blackberry. Our schedules are chaotic and overcommitted, leaving us so stressed that we are numb, yet we wonder why we cannot fall asleep at night. In The Not So Big Life, Susanka shows us that it is possible to take our finger off the fast-forward button, and to our surprise we find how effortless and rewarding this change can be. We do not have to lead a monastic life or give up the things we love. In fact, the real joy of leading a not so big life is discovering that the life we love has been there the entire time. Through simple exercises and inspiring stories, Susanka shows us that all we need to do is make small shifts in our day–subtle movements that open our minds as if we were finally opening the windows to let in fresh air. The Not So Big Life reveals that form and function serve not only architectural aims but life goals as well. Just as we can tear down interior walls to reveal space, we can tear down our fears and assumptions to open up new possibilities. The result is that we quickly discover we have all the space and time we need for the things in our lives that really matter. But perhaps the greatest reward is the discovery that small changes can yield enormous results. In her elegant, clear style, Susanka convinces us that less truly is more–much more. From the Hardcover edition.
